Constable recruitments in Bihar feature a unique two-stage evaluation: a qualifying written examination (10th standard level) followed by the Physical Efficiency Test (PET - 100 Marks), which solely determines the final merit list and appointment order.

7th Pay Commission Salary & Monthly Entitlements

  • Pay Scale: Level 3 (Pay Matrix ₹21,700 – ₹69,100).
  • Starting Basic Pay: ₹21,700 / month.
  • Dearness Allowance (DA 50%): ₹10,850 / month.
  • House Rent Allowance (HRA 8%–16%): ₹1,736 – ₹3,472 / month.
  • Ration Subsidy Allowance: ₹3,000 / month.
  • Uniform & Washing Allowance: ₹10,000 annual lump sum (~₹833/month).
  • Gross Monthly Salary: ~₹38,119 – ₹39,855 / month (Starting in-hand net pay: ~₹34,500 / month).

Physical Efficiency Test (PET) - 100 Marks Merit Matrix {#pet-standards}

The final merit list is formed 100% on PET marks:

1. Running (Maximum 50 Marks)

  • Male Candidates (1.6 km / 1 Mile in max 6 Minutes):
  • - Less than 5 Minutes: 50 Marks
  • - 5 Min to 5 Min 20 Sec: 40 Marks
  • - 5 Min 20 Sec to 5 Min 40 Sec: 30 Marks
  • - 5 Min 40 Sec to 6 Minutes: 20 Marks
  • - Above 6 Minutes: Disqualified
  • Female Candidates (1.0 km in max 5 Minutes):
  • - Less than 4 Minutes: 50 Marks
  • - 4 Min to 4 Min 20 Sec: 40 Marks
  • - 4 Min 20 Sec to 4 Min 40 Sec: 30 Marks
  • - 4 Min 40 Sec to 5 Minutes: 20 Marks
  • - Above 5 Minutes: Disqualified

2. Shot Put / Gola Phek (Maximum 25 Marks)

  • Male (16-pound metal ball thrown from circle):
  • - 20 Feet and above: 25 Marks | 19 to 20 Feet: 21 Marks | 18 to 19 Feet: 17 Marks | 17 to 18 Feet: 13 Marks | 16 to 17 Feet: 09 Marks.
  • Female (12-pound metal ball thrown from circle):
  • - 16 Feet and above: 25 Marks | 15 to 16 Feet: 21 Marks | 14 to 15 Feet: 17 Marks | 13 to 14 Feet: 13 Marks | 12 to 13 Feet: 09 Marks.

3. High Jump (Maximum 25 Marks)

  • Male (Minimum qualifying 4 Feet):
  • - 5 Feet and above: 25 Marks | 4 Ft 8 In: 21 Marks | 4 Ft 4 In: 17 Marks | 4 Feet: 13 Marks.
  • Female (Minimum qualifying 3 Feet):
  • - 4 Feet and above: 25 Marks | 3 Ft 8 In: 21 Marks | 3 Ft 4 In: 17 Marks | 3 Feet: 13 Marks.

Written Examination Pattern (100 Questions, 100 Marks, 2 Hours)

  • Qualifying Nature: Must score minimum 30% marks to qualify for PET (Top 5x vacancies shortlisted for PET).
  • Subjects Covered: Hindi, English, Mathematics, Social Science (History, Geography, Civics, Economics), Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology), General Knowledge & Contemporary Affairs.
  • Marking Scheme: +1 Mark for correct answer; NO negative marking.
